G.Lab table

G. LAB is a hardwood table expressing the complexity and wonder of wood.
The edges of the original planks are preserved, in order to maintain their natural shape (free-form, or free-edge model). The wood is processed using very sharp blades mounted on hand planes, instead of the sandpaper normally employed to smoothen its surface. This method ensures maximum grain brightness, whereas sandpaper would make the wood opaque.

Product history

In the United States, in the past century, lived an architect with a Japanese background and a great passion for wood. 

He created some beautiful, very meaningful furniture, consistent with his very personal view of life. 
His name was George Nakashima and he definitely influenced our professional growth. We strongly advise you to read the book "The Soul of a Tree: A Master Woodworkers Reflections (Paperback)". 
  

The G. LAB table is a tribute to Nakashima and to his courage, tenacity, morals, and lucidity. It was inspired by his example.
